On a rainy and windy day, the annual “Service of Remembrance” was held at Fisherman’s Terminal. The annual event is sponsored by the Seattle Fishermen’s memorial.
This organization is devoted to promoting safety in the fishing fleets and easing the burden of the families and friends of fishermen & fisherwomen who have lost their lives at sea.
The event was held on May 4th, 2014 and was attended by many family members, friends and crewmembers.
Unfortunately, several names were added to the memorial. Fishing has become safer, but, remains one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Through many of the maritime cases I have handled, I have pushed for safer work practices.
